Doris Lee Dolzadelli

March 25, 1933 — March 27, 2022

Doris Dolzadelli, 89, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27. Doris was born on March 25, 1933, the only child of Frances (Brooks) and John Dolzadelli in Austin, Texas. Doris spent her childhood and most of her adult life in Albuquerque, N.M. She attended Albuquerque and Highland High Schools. In her formative years she spent many hours at the University of New Mexico where her father was the assistant athletics director and a coach. Doris married in 1951 and raised four children. Some of her fondest memories, along with her children’s, were going on week long camping trips in N.M. and CO. In addition to being a dedicated mom, she had a long professional career at the Alumni Dept of UNM as an Administrative Assistant and later, Facilities Manager. She oversaw more than 200 weddings a year at the UNM chapel. She was a true Lobo fan with front row seats at the Pit. She loved the university setting with its energy and diversity of young people and many times went to the Frontier during lunch when the student crowd was at its peak. She loved square dancing, playing cards, and laughing with friends. She was known to have a bit of a wild side; switching drivers in a car while moving, hosting boisterous dinner parties, brewing homemade beer, and occasionally heading to Juarez for a wild weekend getaway. When the time came to retire, Doris began those years in the peace and quiet of Elephant Butte, NM. After several years, having always loved the mountains, she moved to Evergreen, CO. She liked to spend Saturdays with her friends hunting for treasures at garage sales. Later, she moved to Eaton Senior Apartments in Lakewood, where she quickly turned acquaintances into dear friendships. Nothing gave her more joy than family gatherings and though her children were split between two states, she relished the time they could all be together. For years she could be spotted every Friday evening at El Amigo Mexican restaurant and enjoyed going to the Little Bear to listen to live music. Doris loved to laugh and her infectious laugh is one everyone remembers. It became her trademark. She was always inquisitive, and curious as to, “why is the world this way?” Her quick wit, laugh, and warm smile will be sadly missed. She is survived by 3 children: Beverly Archuleta, Janet Ehlen (Jim), John Schuler (Tina); 7 grandchildren: Maria (Cedric), Brittany (Safa), Chelsea (Prav), Frances, Giovanni, twins Mariah & Jazmine; 5 great-grandchildren: Nathan, Gaige, Lexi, Zula, and Erabella. Her youngest son, Jim Schuler preceded her in death in 2015. Her family would like to thank the caregivers at Lifecare Center of Westminster as well as the folks at Denver Hospice, for their kindness and caring in her final months. A celebration of her life will be held at Eaton Senior Communities on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at 3:00pm. 333 S.
