Donald Eugene Mitchell

Donald Eugene Mitchell 1933 - 2016, 82 of Centennial CO passed unexpectantly and peacefully at home on March 17, 2016. Don was born in Des Moines, Iowa on July 22, 1933, he married Rita Marie Hudson on February 16, 1957 in Cedar Rapids Iowa and was married for 59 years. Don's 33 year career as an Electrician was with Acme Electric in Cedar Rapids. He served our Country in the Army and was Post Commander for the American Legion in Cedar Rapids. Though Don lived in Colorado his favorite memories are of the time spent in Ocala, Florida with Rita. Don is survived by seven children, Dawn Rowe (Florida), Deanne Gibboney (Colorado), Robert Mitchell (Iowa), Ronald Mitchell (Nebraska), Debra Koehler (Illinois), Dana Mitchell (Colorado) and Dina Gentry (Montana). Seventeen grandchildren: Marisa Hale, Michael Gari, Valentina Gari, Vanessa Gari, Haleigh Gibboney, Candice Duffey, Heather Rinaldi, Christopher Mitchell, Christina Reedy, Seth Mitchell, Ahron Mitchell, Jadon Mitchell, Nicole Koehler, Nathon Koehler, Ashley Koehler, Julia Koehler, and Ashley Gentry. There are ten great grandchildren. The service and viewing will be at St Paul's Community Church 8001 W 23rd Ave Lakewood CO 80214. The viewing will be at 9:00 am, the service at 10:00 am with a reception to follow at St Paul's. The military service will be at Ft Logan National Cemetary, 4400 W Kenyon Ave, Denver CO and will begin at 2:15 pm. A special thanks to our friends and staff at Milwaukee House for all of your friendship, love and support. Don was a civil war history buff, avid reader and life long participant in drum and bugle corps. He loved the Eagles and was found of quoting "We may lose and we may win though we will never be here again".
