Dolores J. (Sandoval) Rivas passed away on April 30th, 2023 at the tender age of 92 just 16 days shy of 93.
Loving wife of Eddie (deceased), Mother of Robert (deceased) (Nanette), Janet Cordova (Ray), Ed Jr. (Denise). Cousin/caregiver- David Sandoval; Grandmother of; 9 Grandchildren, 21 Great-grandchildren, 3 Great-great grandchildren. Survived by numerous sisters and brothers, cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and beloved friends.
Dolores "Lola" was born in Ignacio Colorado on May 15th 1930. Daughter to Mary (Sandoval) Romero and Cladio Padilla.
She enjoyed watching; football, baseball and basketball. Enthusiastic about playing; both poker and bingo.
Married Eddie Rivas on February 9th 1950. Together for 59 years they created a loving home in which all who entered were well fed, loved and cared for.
Together they adored and taught their children, Robert, Janet and Ed, integrity, loyalty and compassion, instilling within them confidence necessary to pursue life with pervasive, contagious fervor.
She lived a beautiful, dignified life. A discerning woman of exquisite taste, she provided comfort and solace while asking little in return. Simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Dolores. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch in view of the poppy's, alert to the monarch butterfly that showed up each spring.
She loved fishing and camping trips with her husband and family or a quiet evening playing cards. She was passionate about her cooking, often times having beans and chili on the stove.
As her family grew her heart grew with it as she treasured her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Together we all came to know her as loving, patient, kind, generous and compassionate.
A memorial service for Dolores will be held on Monday, May 22, 2023 at 11:30am at the Pavilion of Reflection, Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary, 7777 W. 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033, followed by a committal service where she and her husband Eddie will be placed at Crown Hill Cemetery. A reception will be held afterward at Rockleys Event Center, 8555 W. Colfax Avenue, Lakewood CO 80215, from 2pm until 4:30 pm.
