Dolores ‘Dolly’ Tenace, 80, of Arvada, passed away peacefully in her sleep Wednesday February 5, 2020 – one day after her 80th birthday. She was born to Paul and Stella Femiak on February 4, 1940, in Hammond, IN. Dolly moved with her family from Indiana to Arvada, CO in 1951. She told stories about how her family had one of the first T.V.’s on their block and everyone would gather around it in the evenings. She began working at a very young age at the Wheat Ridge dairy. As an adult, Dolly worked in various positions as a bookkeeper – which she loved very much and was very good at. She was meticulous and had a very strong work ethic in every position she held. She married, Joseph ‘Joe’ Tenace, the love of her life of 55 years in 1962. She met Joe at a bar near Lowry AFB when he spilled green beer on her. She would say she liked the way he wore a pair of jeans – it was love at first sight for her. After they were married in 1962, they embarked on an adventure as an Air Force family moving from CO to Las Vegas, NV to Myrtle Beach, SC to Okinawa, Japan to Rapid City, SD to Rome, NY. Colorado would eventually call her home to be with her family after so many years of travelling. Upon retirement, Dolly & Joe did what old retired folks do…fishing & gambling or just hanging with the grandkids that they loved so dearly. Dolly would tell anyone and everyone that she had the very best grandkids ever. She loved her family so very much and did all that she could for us until the day she left us. Dolly is survived by her son Joe, son-in-law Rob, daughter Natalie, son-in-law Troy and her two amazing grandchildren Jared and Shelby. She is also survived by her sister Barbara, brothers Paul and Pete and sisters-in-law Barbara, Dawn, Cindy and Sharon. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Stella, sister Sandy, in-laws Matthew and Rita, brother-in-law Warren and her one and only love, Joe. There will be a celebration of Dolly’s life at a later date. We hope you all will join us.
