David Warren Stanton

November 24, 1954 — February 16, 2018

David Stanton passed away on February 16, 2018. Born in Lewistown, Montana, on November 24, 1954, he was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Stanton and Rita Moore Stanton. David is survived by his wife of 34 years, Nancy Pickett Stanton; his son, Luke Stanton; his sister, Liz Stanton; his aunts Jane Moore and Benita Moore; many friends that he made across the years, including those involved with the Munchies softball team; and his energetic Australian shepherd, Ziggy. Moving to Denver when he was 5 years old, Dave graduated from Regis High School and pursued a career as a carpenter, likely inheriting his talent and learning some of his skills from Linus Moore, his grandfather. He worked for Mission Viejo, a house-building company, and became an excellent carpenter and craftsman, eventually founding New Space Builders with Chris Brink. He specialized in home renovations, often working with dovetail joint and dowel connections rather than nails or screws. During his life, Dave had many passions and avocations. He loved animals – horses, cats, and dogs, especially. He made friends easily and loved hanging out with them and family at parties, often talking politics and sports with great enthusiasm, quick wit, and humor. He collected baseball caps and spent many a Sunday glued to his television as an avid Broncos fan. He thrived on creative collaborations. He partnered with Kevin Mehan to make Sequoia Miracle Salve, a product enjoyed by friends and acquaintances across the nation. He put his carpentry skills to good use in nurturing his growing sister’s athletic and performance ambitions, teaching her to ski and building her a backyard stage, stilts, and a high jump. He walked many car lots with young Luke, both of them expanding and testing their knowledge of the make and model of cars. He tended an expansive garden with Nancy, who made wonderful enchiladas out of the chilies he loved to grow. In the summer, he loved making beef kabobs and grilling the veggies from their garden. His favorite phrase was “keep smiling.” He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
