Dave Joe Van Cleave

David Joe Van Cleave, age 64 of Arvada, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at Sweetwater Lake, Unincorporated Garfield County, Colorado. His memorial service will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, July 6th, 2022 at Morningside Manor in Arvada , Colorado. David will be laid to rest in the Arvada Cemetery. David Van Cleave was born on June 8th, 1958 to John Edwin Van Cleave and Naomi Faye Van Cleave in Lexington, Nebraska. He attended Highschool at West High School and graduated in 1976. David married the love of his life, Michelle Wilmot, on June 23rd, 1984. David and Michelle had three children and eventually settled in Thornton where they started a business. David found work he was passionate about at 21 and his ambition lead him to open his own business, Champion Drywall Services, in 1993. His business thrived for 17 years allowing him to build his dream home with Michelle in Arvada. In 2010 David closed his business to retire. He enjoyed retirement by traveling the world with Michelle and their good friends Bobby and Regina. David was a man that loved life wholeheartedly. He loved the outdoors including biking, skiing, camping, and playing tennis. He loved music ranging from seeing his favorite bands at a concert to a quiet guitar session at home. David had a true appreciation for all sports but had a love for coaching and mentoring high school basketball at Bellevue Christian School and later Pinnacle Charter School for 11 years. David spread his love for life always having a way to make every moment along the way light and humorous. His spirit and strength will be deeply missed. His wisdom will be remembered and carried on. His love will always be cherished. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Grateful for having shared in his life are his beloved wife, Michelle Van Cleave; his dog Beau and his children, Nathan, Christopher and Lorin Van Cleave; and his siblings, Steve, Connie and Stan.
