August 17, 1937 - April 21, 2012 Daniel Paul Capra, 74, died Saturday, April 21, 2012, at his home in Wheat Ridge following a fight with Alzheimer's dementia and vascular disease. He leaves his wife of 35 years, Esther (Narvaez) Capra; his children Tess(Capra) Pecosky, Ralph Capra, Bernadette Capra, and Giana Capra; grandchildren Travis Pecosky, Dwayne Pecosky, Jr., Jacqueline Capra, and Daniel Capra; great grandchild Zaydin Pecosky; and many close friends. Born and raised in Denver, he was the son of Ralph and Geraldine (Camarotta) Capra. He was a lifelong resident of Denver, Colorado. In his early years, Daniel served in the United States Marine Corps from September 7, 1958 until May 20, 1964, after his graduation from Mount Carmel High School in North Denver. After the military, he learned the art of plumbing with "Uncle Sal." He started as an apprentice then moved on to journeyman and later became a Master Plumber. He was arguably one of the best plumbers of his time and some people even regarded him as "the wise guy" on the job site. Early in his career he owned DC Plumbing and Heating, and in approximately 1974 he started D. Capra Mechanical, Inc. He took great pride in his profession and made many friends. Many coworkers and friends were treated like family. Daniel met his wife to be, Esther Narvaez, on a blind date. He had told a friend that "if I don't like her, tell her that I have to go to a funeral." He had his rosary beads in his pocket just in case. That day, he never left and they were married at Annunciation Church in Denver in 1977. He loved his friends dearly and he was always regarded by his children as the "man who knows everybody." At the end of 1977 into early 1978, his son was born and the Broncos went to the Superbowl. He loved sports and was passionate about The Denver Broncos. He had season tickets for years. Many stories were told about how he and his father Ralph would always go to the games on Sundays, even in inclement weather. This passion for sports carried over to his children, and he supported their athletics for many years. Later in life, Daniel spent most of his time cherishing his family and friends. He had the most sincere love for his wife and children. He always watched the games on Sundays, had coffee with friends, and spent many nights with his wife in Central City or Blackhawk. Many times in the middle of nowhere, he would be singing Italian love songs or his favorite song ,"Get Me to the Church on Time" by Frank Sinatra. Everyone who knew Daniel had a story about fun, laughter, and happiness. A Catholic Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church on Friday, April 27th. There will be a viewing at 9 AM and the mass to follow at 10 AM. A reception will follow the mass at Rocky Mountain SER in the gym. The family would like to give special thanks to all that have taken part to make these arrangements.
