October 12, 1959 - September 12, 2014 Cory R. Nelson passed away the evening of September 12, 2014 in the care of his wife, Virginia, and sisters, Rhonda and Robin. He had stayed unwavering in his determination to fight his cancer over the past nine months. Cory was born and grew up in Thornton, Colorado. He left home to serve in the United States Air Force in 1977. Cory's work life was in Electronics Assembly where he met Virginia, the love of his life! Cory's favorite pastime was gardening where he grew prized size pumpkins. He enjoyed family time; water skiing, telling jokes and holiday dinners. He kept his doctors, nurses, family and friends laughing throughout his illness! Cory was preceded in death by his beloved Grandma Morrison, mom and dad, Carl and Dorothy Nelson, and two older brothers, Carl and Gunnar Nelson. He is survived by his wife, sisters, sister in law and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service September 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at the Messiah Baptist Church, 495 So. Main Street in Brighton, Colorado. Internment services will be held at a later date. We deeply appreciate your support, visits, chats, thoughts and prayers. We are comforted that Cory is without pain. We will miss him and his wonderful sense of humor!
