Christopher Charles Haught

January 27, 1984 — August 3, 2019

On August 3, 2019, Christopher Charles Haught peacefully departed this world to be with his Maker after a 28-month journey battling a cancerous brain tumor. Throughout this time Chris remained optimistic and ambitious in his efforts to live a healthy life. He availed himself of holistic treatments that encouraged a restorative respect for his body and provided a quality of life that gave him happiness and a zest for life. While the disease was persistent and unrelenting, Chris maintained a spiritual understanding that brought him to accept his finality and, at the same time, an unfailing gratitude to all who encouraged him with their support, thoughts and prayers. Chris led a full life in his 35 years. He thrived on being around his friends from childhood through adulthood. A graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park, he was passionate about the environment and all aspects of healthy living, for people and animals alike. Being on the water was his choice of recreation and solace, whether in a kayak on a river or cruising on the Chesapeake Bay. His love of music was evident with people who spent time with him—playing guitar, singing, endless playlists of his favorite tunes, and—most notably to the people who knew him best—his random whistling, which gained him the nickname of “the Christler.” He loved to spend time with his family, his friends—all people, and he loved life! Chris leaves behind his beloved wife, Erin Oliver, who unfailingly stood by him and took care of his every need throughout this journey, and shared with him mutual love and devotion throughout their many years together. He also leaves his mother and father, Darlene Haught and Stephen Haught; his sister and brother-in-law, Amy and James Pearson; mother-in-law, Tina Arminio; sister- and brother-in-law, Kate and TJ McAleer; brother- and sister-in-law, Jeff and Zareena Oliver; four nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Two celebration of life events are planned: a private gathering in Arvada, CO on Saturday, August 10 at the residence from 2:00-5:00pm. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, September 13 at 11:00am at the Chart House Restaurant, 300 Second Street, Annapolis, MD 21403; reception will follow.
