November 21, 1922 - April 27, 2012 Chester C. Rollins passed away Friday, April 27, 2012, at Heritage Club of Aurora, Colorado Chet, 89, was born in Rural Norman, OK to Luther C. Rollins and Anna Pearl (Wright) Rollins on November 21, 1922. He went to country schools and graduated from Norman High School in 1942. After graduation, he and three friends harvested crops across the country. He then settled in S.D. where he met and eventually married Fern Stafford on January 9, 1943. Chester went into the Navy in February 1943 and served his country during WW II. He was discharged in December 1945. After returning home, he and his wife made their home in Aberdeen, S.D. He started working as a bread delivery man, went on to become a machinist at K O Lee Co. for 10 years and then joined the Aberdeen Police Department in March 1957. In 1966 he went to the FBI Academy in Quantico, VA. In 1970, he became Aberdeen's Chief of Police. He retired in 1980. He was a charter member of North Highland United Methodist Church. Chet loved carpentry, and he and his wife built four homes over the years. The last one was north of Aberdeen, where they had a hobby farm. Chet also loved gardening and would sell his vegetables at farm stands. The farm was sold in 1996 and Chet and Fern moved into town. In 1997, they moved to Loveland, CO to be near a daughter until 2000 then moved to Menasha, WI near a son and his family. Due to deteriorating health, Chet and Fern moved to the Denver-Aurora, CO area into assisted living near their oldest son. Preceding him in death were his parents, four sisters, and three brothers. Chester is survived by his wife Fern (Stafford) Rollins of Aurora, CO; daughter Sandra Wild, Loveland, CO; Dean Rollins, Centennial, Colorado; Neal Rollins, San Ramon, CA; and Timothy Rollins of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
