October 6, 1950 - January 9, 2014 Many knew Chang Sun as a wife, a mother, a sister, or a friend; however, to her immediate family she was known by many other words. To her husband Mark, she was known as the greatest love of his life. To her daughter Changmi, she was known as a teacher of life, a confidant, a best friend, and an artist. To her son-in-law Aaron, she was known as a second mother and as an example of unconditional love, strength, compassion, and courage. Her most shining characteristic to her husband, daughter, and son-in-law was her faith in God. She never missed her daily prayers and did her utmost to live her life by Jesus' example. Chang Sun created superb main course meals and side dishes in the kitchen, too. For those who knew her well, her Korean cooking was outstanding and no one could compare, especially with her kimchi. Her immediate family considered her cooking to be as good as any master chef in Korea. Also, she cooked western food very well-Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day meals were always a delight. Not only was Chang Sun an artist in the kitchen, but she was also an artist when it came to crafts and fashion. She knitted winter clothing items (hats, gloves, scarves, etc.), crocheted, created ornaments, and did needlepoint among other things. When it came to fashion, she had a keen sense of colors, textures, and patterns. Just as Chang Sun was attentive to the details of her art, she was also thoughtful of all those around her. Chang Sun always gave from the heart and never expected anything in return. Even if she bought something special for herself, she was more than willing to give the item to someone else in greater need. Other ways to describe Chang Sun are: intelligent, witty, prudent, persistent, hard-working, brave, giving, kind-hearted, and loving, with a wonderful sense of humor and an uncanny sense of intuition. These are all but labels in an attempt to identify a truly magnificent woman. She will be missed dearly.
