Catherine Isabelle Deanes

April 24, 1930 - June 2, 2012 82, born April 24, 1930 in St. Louis, Missouri to her loving parents, the late Hugh and Ruth Vaughn. Her love for the Lord kept her at peace all the days of her life. Catherine was delivered into the presence of God on June 2nd, 2012. Catherine was the eldest of three children. She grew up in St. Louis attending Delaney and St. Elizabeth's grade schools and St. Joseph's High School where she met her future husband, Robert Snow, Jr. Catherine and Robert were united in marriage and to this union were born seven children, Robert III, Maria, Rita, Barton, Veronica, Martin, and Annamarie. In 1967 Catherine and the children moved to Denver, Colorado and started integrating into the community. She was remarried to Virgil Deanes. Catherine was afforded the "luxury" of spending time in the workforce as Secretary at Zion Church under the late Reverend Wendell Liggins; Assistant Director of Job Corps at the Denver Branch YWCA; Director of "The Outreach Services for the Aging" of Denver; and The Urban League of Denver. Catherine had many interest and hobbies, and enjoyed sharing them with her family. She loved to read and listen to music, especially classical music; quilting, collecting and making dolls, sewing. She was a great cook, including gourmet and she enjoyed traveling. The thought of going to thrift stores (she called them "junk stores"), garage sales, and Black Hawk/Central City would make her light up. Catherine led a full and fruitful life. She served as an inspiration and showered kindness and love on all those that she met. She would often say "getting old is uphill; just roll with it. Memories of "Cat", "Mama", "Bart", "Bartee", "Grandma", "Catherine", and "Aunt Bart" will be cherished by all who knew and loved her and especially by her loving husband Virgil Kaleem (Deanes); Children Maria Snow-McAdams, Rita (Gary) Wells, Barton (Lena) Snow, Veronica (Roy) Richason, Martin ( Mary Sue) Snow. Brother Stephen (Carol) Vaughn, sister, Cecilia (John) Boone Granddaughters, Maria Christian, Tamu Snow, Nicole Ward; Shana Jones, Catherine (Tyrone)Head; Jocelyn Williams, Joy Williams; Kahdega Snow; Ayesha (Jordan) Keys; Kareemah Snow; Roseadell (Shane) O'Laughlin, Jessica Richason; Brittany Snow, Genevia McAdams, April Williams Grandsons, Marcus Christian, Robert (Maria) Snow IV, Justin (Keela) McGrew, Vaughn Snow, Ramone, Austin, and Garret Richason, Gregory Williams, Jalen Snow; sisters-in-law Gailes Berry, Travis (Robert) Ross; and a host of of beloved great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her son Robert Snow, daughter, Annamarie Snow, grandson Christopher Snow, son-in-law Earl McAdams, Jr. and sister-in-law Johnnie Owens. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30PM Friday, June 15, 2012 at Crossroads Church of Denver (9901 West 50th Ave., Wheat Ridge, CO).
