March 18, 1934 - August 19, 2013 Carol Irwin passed away on August 19, 2013 at her home in Golden, Colorado at the age of 79. She was born March 18, 1934 to Wayland and Inez Osborn. Growing up in Iowa Carol graduated from Drake University in 1956 with a degree in Journalism. After marrying Dwight Irwin in July 1956, the couple moved to Colorado to pursue further education. Carol earned a Masters in Literature and a Doctorate of Education from the University of Colorado. Carol's lifelong passion and interest in public education as a teacher and professional administrator touched the lives of many. Her kindness and gentleness will be forever remembered. Carol was preceded in death by her parents and her son Daniel. She is survived by her husband Dwight, son James, daughters Sarah and Rita, 7 grandchildren, and siblings Wayne, Keith, and Mary Ellen. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, August 21, 11:00 AM at Mountain View United Methodist Church, Boulder. The family would like to thank all of you for your kindness, thoughts, and prayers. They will receive friends immediately following the service.
