November 8, 1952 - March 21, 2014 61, former broadcast engineer, died March 21, 2014 after suffering the agony of COPD the last 2 years. He is deeply mourned by his wife Colette Brooks, his son Nathan, his sister Vikki and his two beloved Keeshonden. Bruce moved with his family from Illinois to Golden in the summer of 1969 and promptly headed back east and participated in the Woodstock Music Arts Festival. After graduating from Golden High School, Bruce joined the U.S. Navy in the late stages of the Vietnam War. He traveled the world during his career in the broadcast industry, working several Olympic Games, and especially liked visiting Italy, as he was part Sicilian and liked to think he spoke a bit of the language. He enjoyed a good craft beer or fine tequila, and would do anything for those he cared about. He was the best Father anyone could possibly ask for. He was kind, smart, generous, and the hardest worker I've ever known. He's worked in approximately seventy-five countries as one of the best video engineers in the world and still managed to be the best Father possible. The things we've learned from him will be remembered forever and passed on to others. He was well respected by his colleagues and customers who knew that when Bruce showed up for the work to be done, he went above and beyond anybody's expectations, and left them wanting more. Bruce found his passion for life when wilderness kayaking and rock climbing in the Boulder Flatirons, Tuolumne Meadows and Yosemite National Park. He loved the outdoors and being in nature, and adored his wife Colette and son Nathan. We have been inspired by his ‘dog on a bone' tenacity, voracious thirst for life and quest for knowledge. He was a very good man with a big heart and we lost him too soon. Bruce will forever be loved, never forgotten and always will remain in our hearts. Bruce started smoking when he was in his early teens. If just one person who counted him as a friend quits smoking, knowing the suffering he went through with COPD, that would be one of his greatest legacies. A Memorial Gathering will be announced at a later date. Memorial Contributions can be made in Bruce's name to: The Humane Society of The United States, Wilderness Society or Tobacco Free Colorado
