Bonnie Clark Sweany, 89, passed away on September 10, 2018 at Collier Hospice Center in Wheat Ridge, CO. She was visited by friends & family members in the days preceding her passing, which was peaceful and calm. Bonnie was born on December 3, 1928 to Frank C Clark and Rose Mable (Handcock) Clark in Vermillion, SD as the youngest of 5 children. She was raised in Vermillion with her siblings Iva, Alta, Frank and Robert. Bonnie attended Vermillion High School where she was named Miss Dakota. She attended the University of South Dakota at Vermillion where she worked as a librarian and studied art. After graduating, Bonnie met Donald Ira Sweany of Kidder, MO while in Kansas City working for Hallmark Cards as a lettering artist. They married July 22, 1950 in Vermillion, SD. Don and Bonnie started their family in Kansas City prior to moving to Boulder, CO in 1968 where they raised their two boys, Steven Gregg and Donald Brian. Bonnie golfed, bowled, played bridge, enjoyed their family and developed deep, lifelong friendships. Bonnie is preceded in death by son Steven Gregg (2006), husband Donald Ira (2007), her parents and 4 siblings. She is survived by her son, Donald Brian (Karla Hofstatter) of Denver, CO, 5 granddaughters; Caitlin (Antonio) Mendez, Lauren Sweany, Erica (David) Neumann, Megan (Robert) Licher and Margo Sweany as well as 2 great-grandsons, John & Frank Licher. Her friends and family remember her as intelligent, disciplined, wise, funny, and very loving. Services will be held at Arvada United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 22nd at 3:00 pm. Bonnie will be interred with her husband at the Mountain View Cemetery Memorial Garden in Boulder, CO.
