March 31, 1926 — May 13, 2018

Bill H. Deweese, aged 92, died peacefully in Wheat Ridge, Colorado on Sunday, May 13th , 2018. He will lovingly be remembered as a kind and honorable man who always had a smile on his face. It seems everyone who met Bill fell in love with him. He found his way into their hearts with his warmth and his joking ways. Bill was born in Sherman, Texas to Lee and Mary Deweese and grew up with his four sisters Rosalie, Jeanne, Lorraine and Chris in Pueblo, Colorado. After graduating from Centennial High School in Pueblo, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Not only was Bill an Honorably Discharged Veteran, but he was also decorated with the American Theater Ribbon, the Germany Occupation Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. Bill married Wanda Greinsman in 1948 and they had three children. He later remarried, to Lou Turner who preceded him in death. He worked at Oroweat Bakery in Denver as a Foreman before he retired. Bill had a wonderful voice and loved singing. Once a member of a barbershop quartet, you could always hear him humming a tune or breaking into song. He also enjoyed fishing, “going up on the hill,” and was an avid Broncos fan. Taking great pleasure in helping others, particularly other veterans, Bill was very active in the American Legion Post #17 in Edgewater for 55 years. He was a past Commander of the Post, served as its Board Chair, and its Chaplain. Bill is survived by his children, Al (Cindy) Deweese of Denver, CO; Debbie (Roy) Teter of Keenesburg CO; Connie (Ken) Engel of Firestone, CO; and his step-daughters Jeanne Oliver and Victoria (Jeff) Stuetz of Wheat Ridge, CO.
