Beverly Rose Wells, age 76, of Arvada, CO, passed away December 22nd, 2023. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a source of inspiration to all who knew her. Beverly was preceded in death by her parents Wayne and Hazel Ashmore and her sister Juanita. She is survived by her brother Robert Ashmore, husband Larry Wells, children Jeanne Burke and Jerry Brettell, her grandchildren Tommy Brettell, Amber Hanlon, Dalton Burke, Dakota Burke and Taylor Burke, great-grandmother to Kathryn, Kylo, Olivia and Raiden along with many other friends and family members.
Beverly was born on December 29th, 1946, in Las Animas Colorado and moved with her family to her childhood home in Golden Colorado. She loved music and singing and participated in choir at Lakewood High School. Beverly overcame so many difficult things in her life. Teen pregnancy would prevent her from finishing high school, an abusive first husband, and a traumatic accident in her twenties. Although she suffered brain damage and lost much of her mobility on her right side, she refused to give up on herself or her young children. She had to relearn how to speak, read, write, and eventually walk and even drive again. She met and married her husband, Larry Wells, and they shared a life together for over 40 years. Their adventures took them fishing and camping in the Rocky Mountains and even into Canada. They bought a home together in Arvada and were active members of their church. Beverly was a lover of animals, and they adopted several dogs named Buddy, their most recent dog named Tanner. Her love, positivity, tenacity and faith through it all has been a source of inspiration to everyone who knew her. Her love and sacrifice was a gift to us all. The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at Arborview as well as the special team from Brighton Hospice for the excellent love and care they provided her.
A Winter Rose
Sprang to life in the harsh winter
of southern Colorado
A blessing to this world
A winter Rose, pink and full of promise
Thorns would be plentiful
But the beauty and essence of that Rose
Could not be overshadowed
Could not be held back
permeating the lives of others
With laughter and joy
A gift and a promise
That we can not only survive
But thrive
No matter the thorns
No matter the storms
Teaching us to blossom
Wherever we are planted
