Beverly Ann Berge

January 27, 1937 — August 30, 2020

Beverly Ann Berge, loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister, died on August 30, 2020 in Westminster, Colorado. She was 83 years old. She was born Beverly Ann Labbitt in 1937 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Avonell Porter and Richard Labbitt. Richard died just two years later. Avonell married August Fredette in 1940 and had five children. Beverly graduated from East High School in Sioux City and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of South Dakota. She met Lyle Berge while in college and their 31-year marriage began on August 24, 1958 in Sioux City. They moved to Denver in June 1960, where sons Jordan (1960) and Torin (1967) were born. The family moved to Marshall, Minnesota in 1971 for three years before settling in Pueblo, Colorado, where Jordan and Torin graduated high school. With grown children who were living in the Denver area, Beverly returned there in 1991 and remained the rest of her life. Beverly enjoyed spending time with family and watching her sons play various sports, especially baseball. And that enthusiasm transferred to her grandchildren in their sports endeavors, including baseball, basketball, softball and dance. Beverly is survived by Jordan and his wife, Christine, along with Torin and his wife, Alyssa; grandchildren Justin Berge, Tina Clang (married to David), Taylor Jon (married to Erica), Nicole Berge and Will Berge; and great grandchild Theodore Clang, born August 8 in Lincoln, Nebraska, whom she got to meet via FaceTime. She is also survived by sisters Barbara Smith (married to Dennis) and Nancy Surber and brother Brian Fredette (married to Suzanne), along with brother-in-law Lewis Gonzales, numerous nephews and nieces, and their extended families. Preceding her in death were her parents, brother Robert Fredette, sister Bobette Gonzales, brother-in-law Mickey Surber and her former husband. Internment of ashes will be at Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City.
