Bernice G. Rodriguez

February 17, 1933 — May 12, 2022

Our beloved mother, Bernice G. Rodríguez passed away on May 12, 2022. She was born to Manuel and Georgia Rodríguez on February 17, 1933, in Colorado. She was raised in northern Colorado’s farming communities and later moved to Denver with her parents and siblings. She married John Alfred Frésquez and together raised their three sons. They would later divorce, but maintained a loving and respectful friendship, encouraging their sons to live their lives with value and respect. Bernice was known for her work ethic and dedication to her employers’ and worked well into her 70s. Despite obstacles in her life, Bernice was an optimist and moved forward in all that she did. Her natural beauty was enhanced by her love of fashion and determination to present herself with a beautiful smile and positive attitude. She was an advocate for women, showing that they had the ability to get through life with grace and dignity. Bernice found solace in her beautiful gardens adorned with her collection of Angels and appreciated the earth and its offerings. She took great pride in cooking for her family, feeding them all traditional dishes she learned from her mother, as well as her own creations. Food was a way of showing her love to her family. Bernice was a devoted grandmother making each grandchild feel loved and safe. She enjoyed the arts and inspired each grandchild to appreciate their talents and to enjoy life to its’ fullest. She deeply valued her time with all of her grandchildren, whether it was sleepovers, talking with them at family gatherings or just on the phone. Her home was full of her grandchildren’s photos, artwork, and their achievements. Bernice’s faith never wavered, and she held on to her religious traditions that carried her through troubled times, and she gave gratitude for the multitude of blessings throughout her life. Our family is truly grateful to have experienced her love, kindness, and sense of humor. We find great comfort in knowing that she has found peace and is now at rest. She was truly loved and will be deeply missed by her family. The Frésquez family would also like to extend their deepest gratitude to her niece, Maxine, for her heartfelt love and care of Bernice. Bernice is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel and Georgia Rodriguez, and grandson Mark Frésquez.
