It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Kunovic, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Born on April 11, 1928, in Ramona, South Dakota, Barbara graced the world with her gentle spirit until her departure on November 2, 2024, in Arvada, Colorado. When Barbara moved to Colorado, she met the love of her life, Joe. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2010. From that marriage came David Kunovic (Cheryl), Jan Hubbell (Dean), Paulette Jenkins, and Joe Kunovic (Annette). She immensely enjoyed her grandchildren, Nick, Tyler, Jenny, Carrie, Chris, Matt, Haley, and Anthony. There were also 15 well-loved great grandchildren to add to her legacy.
Barbara, fondly known as Barb, Mom, and "Gramacita", was a remarkable woman whose unwavering kindness and modest nature touched the lives of many. She spent her professional life crafting vibrant banners for local sports teams and sewing jerseys for schools, showcasing her exceptional talent as an accomplished seamstress. Her dedication to her work reflected her belief in the power of community support, and she took immense pride in every stitch and design she created.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her sweetest kind soul and bright sparkly blue eyes that radiated warmth and compassion. A living saint in the eyes of her family and friends, she embodied a calm and quiet grace that brought peace to all who encountered her. Barbara lived in the same house for 70 years, building a legacy of love and resilience that will remain in our hearts forever. As a faithful Catholic and true woman of God, her life was a testament to faith, service, and unconditional love.
Barbara was a master of many hobbies, often seen tending to her garden or creating lovely oil paintings that adorned her home. A visit to her house was an experience filled with the delightful aroma of baked goods, where meals were plentiful, and love was served with every dish. Her home was a sanctuary where family and friends gathered to bask in her gentle hospitality, and her legacy of nurturing will continue through those she leaves behind.
Her proudest accomplishments, however, were found in the roles of a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her greatest joy came from nurturing her family, instilling values of kindness and support in each of their lives. Barbara's selflessness and relentless desire to help others will remain a cherished memory for all who had the privilege to know her.
As we gather our memories and celebrate Barbara's extraordinary life, we hold dear the profound impact she made on us all. She may have left this world, but the love she shared will forever echo in the hearts of her family and friends. Rest in peace, dear Mom. Your light will always shine brightly in our lives.
There will be a private family memorial for Barb at a later date.
