Barbara Joan Smiley

Barbara Joan Smiley, of Arvada CO, died Saturday, March 30, 2019, after suffering a stroke. Barb was born in Peoria, IL in 1930 to Lillian and Glen McKinney. She attended Washington Community High School in Washington, IL. In 1950 she married her childhood sweetheart, Jim Smiley, and they raised three children, Glen, Roger, and Laura. Throughout her life, Barb cherished family togetherness, and enjoyed music, sewing, painting, long walks, and road trips of all sorts. Retirement years included moves first to Florida, then to Colorado, where they resided in Pueblo West and Arvada. Barbara is preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Carlock. She is survived by her husband, James Smiley, brother Dan McKinney, children Glen Smiley, Roger Smiley, and Laura Smiley Jurgens, and grandchildren Dale Smiley and Alex Smiley. The family will celebrate her life at May gathering to spread her ashes in one of her favorite places in the Colorado mountains.
