February 20, 1921 - April 27, 2012 Anna Eleanora Saulsby Clausen Butler passed peacefully in her sleep on April 27, 2012; she was 91 years old. The eldest daughter of Andrew David and Lillian Jackson Saulsby, Anna leaves to celebrate her long life daughters Clara (Davidson) and Esma (Duplantier) and beloved son-in-law Gerald Duplantier; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; scores of nieces and nephews whom she adored; and many, many dearly loved friends. Anna lived her first 86 years in her beloved city of New Orleans. There she was a loyal friend and employee of Mrs. Alice Lemle and family for over 30 years. She was devoted to her family, her church (Hartzell United Methodist), the Sunshine Ladies and the Silhouettes, having been the President for many years. Anna loved to celebrate Mardi Gras and attended the Zulu Ball every year. She was the matriarch of the Jackson-Saulsby family and loved to host the entire family for dinners (whether holidays or not) and family reunions. She shared a special closeness with her nieces Marlin, Enola, and Andrea and their children and traveled often to celebrate important occasions such as debuts, graduations, and births, as well as plain old summer visits. Following the loss of her home to Hurricane Katrina, Anna relocated to Arvada, CO to live with her daughter Esma, son-in-law Gerald, and great grandson Nasir. There she attended Cure d'Ars Church where she was loved and respected by many. She was homebound in her final years yet remained a formidable presence in the lives of her loved ones. Predeceased by her husband Ernest Butler, Jr., parents Lillian and Andrew Saulsby, sisters Delores Colon and Zenobia Wilson, and granddaughter Michelle Davidson, they are a few of the many family members whom she will meet in heaven. The family thanks you for your condolences and words of encouragement at this time.
