Alfred Shunji Miyagishima, 92, passed away Dec. 19, 2018. Alfred was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to mother Kiku and father Toshiro Gontaro. During World War II, Alfred was drafted into the Army and served in the 9th Infantry Division in France and Germany. He later served as Commander of Nisei Post 185 in Denver. After many years of employment with the City and County of Denver and the State of Colorado, Alfred retired to enjoy his favorite hobbies. He was a devoted Denver Broncos fan, an excellent fisherman, loved a game of golf and traveling with wife Nancy. Dad will be deeply missed by his wife, Nancy; children, Carol, Joyce (Jerry) and Alan (Marion); 4 grandchildren, Kara, Matthew, Sara, and Alanna; 7 great-grandsons; and extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his parents, siblings Harvey Hiroshi, Edward Shunichi, Mabel Chizuko and Gladys Tokiye. Survived by siblings Jeanne Aiko (Gus) and Becky Fukiko (Patrick). Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5, 2019 at 2pm at Simpson United Methodist Church, 6001 Wolff St, Arvada, CO 80003.
