October 5, 1944 - November 30, 2011 Alan Edwin Kobobel, of Erie, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 30th, after a short battle with lung cancer. Alan was born on October 5, 1944, to Edward and Helen Kobobel. Alan spent the majority of his life in Erie, Colorado amongst his family and friends. Alan served his country in the Vietnam war for which he received the honor of a Purple Heart Medal. Alan went on to work for and retire from Buckley Air Force Base as a licensed plumber. Alan enjoyed being outdoors and loved spending his free time fishing. Alan is survived by his daughters Tracy Swen and Sheri Kobobel; his granddaughters Danielle and Hailey Swen; his mother Helen Kobobel; his brother William and his wife Margaret Kobobel and their daughter Jenea DeQuasie; Jenea's daughter Alex; and Alan's nieces Dawn and Penny. Everyone that knew Alan knows how he loved to sit back, relax, and enjoy a cold beer. Alan was the type of man that would rather have everyone get together to celebrate the life he lived rather than mourn his passing. Therefore, in lieu of a formal service there will be a celebration in honor of Alan and the memories we all shared of and with him. The date and time has yet to be determined but we will make every effort to contact family and friends with the information once details are determined. For those of you that would like to join in the celebration that we may not have contact info for, please email one of the individuals below with your contact information so we can be sure to send you an invite.
